Imam Plemon T. El-Amin, Director of Interfaith Outreach, IIMA, info@iimainc.org

Imam Plemon T. El-Amin has served for the past 24 years as the Resident Imam of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, one of the largest and most progressive Mosques in the United States. With his leadership, the Atlanta Masjid has developed the Clara Mohammed Elementary and W. Deen Mohammed High Schools in the same neighborhood of East Atlanta.

Imam Plemon T. El-Amin is a founding board member and former President of the Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta (FAMA), the largest and most influential interfaith organization in Atlanta. FAMA oversees monthly interfaith dialogues and programs to promote and deepen trust and understanding among members of all faiths. Imam El-Amin is the Director of World Pilgrims, an interfaith effort to develop friendships among faith leaders through travel and exchange. He has led eight journeys of 30-36 different Muslims, Christians, and Jews to Turkey, Morocco, Spain, Greece, Jordan, and Jerusalem and brought them back home as friends committed to interfaith work and relationships.

He is a 1972 graduate of Harvard University. He converted to the religion of Al-Islam in 1974 and became Imam under the tutelage of Imam Warith Mohammed and Imam Ibrahim Pasha. He has performed the Pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj) twice, in 1978 and in 2006, and has performed minor Pilgrimages (Umra) on six other occasions.

He is married to Cassandra Scott El-Amin and is the father of two adult children, Attorney Fatima Ziyad and Fareed Abdullah El-Amin and grandfather of Haneef (7), Sultan (4), and Naja (3).

 

Mohammed Al-Zo’obi, Director of Community Organization, IIMA, mohammedalzoobi@iimainc.org

Mohamed Al-Zo’obi was born in Lebanon and migrated to Georgia over 36 years ago. Mr. Al-Zo’obi received a Bachelor degree in Finance from GSU as well as an MBA in Accounting from KSU.

Mohamed Al-Zo’obi has volunteered for Dar Un- Noor International Academy for over 14 years as assistant to the principal. He has been associated with Al-Farooq Masjid community for over 17 years. Mr. Al-Zo’obi briefly served with the Public Relations Department of the Masjid.

Mr. Al-Zo’obi participated in the AMF Corp for rebuilding Al-Farooq Masjid and on the search committee for Masjid Omar Bin Abdul Aziz. He has been an independent businessman for over 20 years and is currently serving as President/CEO of IBSC, specializing in commodity trading and REI.

Mr. Mohamed Al-Zo’obi is married and the father of six girls.  

 

Jaffer M. Sadiq, Director of Development and Media, jaffersadiq@iimainc.org

 

Jaffer Sadiq obtained his Degree from Concordia University with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in Business Administration.  He has also studied at Harvard University taking courses specializing in American Government and Economics.  Jaffer played an instrumental role in assisting to organize the First Harvard University Islamic Finance Program which welcomed Banking Chief Executive Officers, foreign government officials and other scholars from around the world.  Needless to say, the event was an extreme success and continues to this day.

 

Jaffer and his family have been involved in many aspects of politics whose roots trace back to Canada whereby his father, Akhtar Sadiq served as an advisory Board Member for the then Prime Minister Paul Martin Jr.  Through his father and his natural love for politics, justice and the betterment of society, Jaffer continued his lust for politics and was elected as the President of the Progressive Conservative Party of his University.  He went on to become The National East Regional Youth President for the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and was sent as a delegate to the National Party Election in Quebec City. 

 

Jaffer has also acted as a campaign Manager for his father when Akhtar first ran for the Georgia State Senate during the 2000 elections whereby he received 33% of the vote.  Afterwards, his father served on Al Goreīs steering committee and was also presented with the highest civilian award in the State of Georgia for “Outstanding Georgia Citizen” presented to him by the previous Secretary of State Kathy Cox.  Akhtar also sits as a Treasurer on the Board of Directors for The United States Navy League.

 

Jaffer continued his political ambitions and worked for Federal Senator Max Cleland and maintains his valuable friendship with Max to this day.  He also expanded on his love for structured finance by working at Merrill Lynch in their Private Client Group.

 

Jaffer sits on the Board of Directors for several businesses and organizations such as The Bridging the Gap Project and Habitat for Humanity.  Jaffer is also a member of the F.B.I. Citizenīs Academy.

 

Jaffer is a successful businessman and is married to his beautiful wife Lina who is a school teacher.  He continues to passionately serve the community.

 

 

Jennah Malik, Director of Community Outreach, Cofounder of IIMA, jennahmalik@iimainc.org

Jennah Malik was born in Indiana and moved to Atlanta in 1994. Jennah is the proud single mother of three children.  In the year 2000, Jennah reverted to Islam.  After Ms. Malik’s reversion to Islam, she endured rejection from family and friends and still found the courage to stand up for what she knew was right. 

Jennah Malik is the Cofounder of IIMA. Ms. Malik has shared the dream of IIMA with Muataz Malik for over 9 years.  Additionally, Jennah cofounded the Ummah Group, Inc., an umbrella corporation housing organizations such as a food pantry, the Muslim Athletic Club (MAC), and Islamic Will and Testament.

Jennah has volunteered her time and her business (Jennah’s Pony Rides and Parties) to the community by contributing her resources to community events.  Jennah enjoys teaching horseback riding and training.  Additionally, she worked for two years with the Bosnian community and has volunteered with the Al-Farooq Summer Camp for the last four years.  Jennah will continue to volunteer for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

 

YaQutullah Ibraheem,  Volunteer Coordinator, IIMA, info@iimainc.org


Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981, Ms. Ibraheem was born and raised Muslim.  YaQutullah Earned her B.A. in Nutrition (Cum Laude) in 2005 and her M.S. in Health Sciences in 2007, both from Georgia State University.  YaQutullah currently works with DeKalb Medical Center and is a Clinical Dietitian.

Ms. Ibraheem is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and currently serves as secretary to the Board of Trustees for SHARE Atlanta, a MANA affiliate.  Additionally, YaQutullah serves as Chair of Al-Farooq Masjidīs Womenīs committee and volunteers for PD Atlanta.

 

Rima Allaham,  Acting Public Relations Director and Media Coverage, IIMA, info@iimainc.org

Rima Allahan is currently teaching Arabic at Georgia State University. She earned her Masterīs and Ph.D. in Arabic Language, Literature and Linguistics from Georgetown University in Washington DC, and her BS in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut. She was the Head of the Translation Department at the Kuwaiti Cultural Office in Washington  DC. She also worked as a television reporter and producer for the BBC, Abu Dhabi Television and Dubai Television. She taught Arabic at the State Department and was awarded "the Chairīs Coin Award for excellence in teaching Arabic language and culture. Sheīs fluent in Arabic, French, English and Spanish.
